Hi, I'm Alex Hobbs. I created Steppingstone Occupational Therapy because I wanted to build a practice that genuinely makes a difference in people's lives.
Colleagues and friends describe me as a passionate occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience across a range of settings. I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2010 in the Netherlands, and have since worked across the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and, for the last 11 years, Australia. I am AHPRA registered and a member of Occupational Therapy Australia.
I am dedicated to helping teens and adults achieve their goals, discover their strengths, and build on their potential. I support people to overcome challenges and enhance their functioning, participation, and independence in everyday life.
I have particular experience and interest working with neurodivergent teens and adults, and with individuals living with neurological conditions and other disabilities. My approach is holistic, neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, inclusive, and evidence-based. Also, I have a passion, training and experience in pain-management and neurorehabilitation.
I use formal and semi-structured assessments to help clients clarify their goals and evaluate meaningful outcomes. My work draws on a range of approaches, including:
I also value working closely with the broader multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for my clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy sport and have a strong interest in nutrition and healthy living. I love spending time with my family and friends, and travel whenever I can.
