Hi, I am Alex. I created Steppingstone Occupational Therapy to make a difference. Colleagues and friends describe me as a passionate Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience across a range of settings. I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2010 in the Netherlands and have worked in diverse occupational therapy settings in Germany, the United Kingdom and in Australia for the last 10 years.
I am dedicated to helping teens and adults achieve their goals and can support them to discover their strengths and potential. I can assist in overcoming challenges to enhance people’s functioning, participation, and independence in life.
I have experience and a particular interest in working with neurodivergent teens and adults and individuals living with neurological conditions and other disabilities. My approach is holistic, neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, inclusive, and evidence-based.
I can support clients by using formal and semi-structured assessments to assist with their goals and provide outcome measures. I use approaches and techniques such as sensory processing and interoception management, establishing daily routines, transitioning and change management, energy and capacity management (Spoon Theory), sleep hygiene, social connection, executive functioning support, vocational support, pain management, life skills and activities of daily living, emotional regulation, Assistive Technology, minor home modifications and more. Lastly, I enjoy working with the broader team for the best outcomes for my clients.
In my free time, I enjoy sports and have a strong interst about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy spending time in nature with my family and love to travel.
